A Private, Cliff-side Elopement in Mallorca, Spain

Imagine waking up on your wedding day with the only thing on your to-do list is to

  1. look cute

  2. get married

  3. have fun

That’s exactly how Kassandra and Bernie’s elopement in Mallorca went down. It was calm, peaceful, and full of laughs. We joked that Kass and Michelle are the black cats and Bernie and Tom are the golden retrievers. It was a match made in heaven and an allegiance has been formed from New Jersey to West Virginia.

Before I bless your eyes with some STUNNING elopement photos, I want to share the best story that we learned about Bernie over dinner after their elopement. Back story, Bernie grew up in Spain and now is a microbiologist in NJ, with a real fucking good talent for cooking (I’m obsessed with his dinner stories on IG). A few years ago, Bernie randomly entered a paella cooking competition in NJ. Bernie grew up in the region of Spain where paella originated, so he put on his best cooking t-shirt and went to town. And won. After becoming the new Paella King of NJ, Bernie headed to the national championship, where you guessed it, he swept it again. So I’m going to title this blog post “The One Where the Paella King Marries the Marine in Mallorca".”

We started their elopement day off at a quiet, countryside hotel, Cas Cabo Nu. Kass is an impressively punctual person, so when we arrive, she was already dressed, ansy to see her man. She and Tom took a shot of tequila together, I fed her a croissant from backpack, and off we went to meet Bernie on the pathway between their rooms. A very casual and not-so-orchestrated first look- 10/10 would recommend. After they smooched around the hotel, we hopped in our cars and headed to downtown to frolic around an old castle over looking the region. Castles + elopements = magic.

After a quick pit stop to eat some snacks (this crew needed more than tequila shots and croissants to keep us afloat during a 9-hour elopement day), we headed to their super private (and hopefully secret) ceremony location. We met their officiant, Toni, aka the most gorgeous man alive, and trekked the 20 minute hike through the woods to reach the rugged coastline.

After we lost all available sunlight and blue hour, we hopped back in the cars and headed to the most understated luxurious restaurant we’ve ever been to. This was not a bustling kitchen with tables full from wall to wall. There was one table finishing up their dinner as we sat down. And not too long after that, we had the place to ourselves. Kass and Bernie were so kind to treat us to such a fabulous dinner where we shared modern dishes with regional influence (including the best damn Iberian Jamon to ever exist, I’m sure.) It was so understated that the chef himself brought our dishes out to us, and after our plates were clean and we chatted into the twilight, and the chef said goodbye on his way out the front door. Our server assured us that they were open until midnight, so we made our way to the pool for some candle side wine. Enough to get us all giggly as we ran around the empty streets, illuminated with streetlights. Not a sound throughout the whole town, until we ran into our server on his way home.

Mallorca has our hearts forever. Let’s go back, shall we?
