Mountain Elopement at Dolly Sods in WV
Taylor and Sam planned their elopement in 6 weeks. Proof that elopements are really easier than you think. And MUCH easier than planning a wedding. On a sunny day in October, we helped document a truly special elopement day and once again were reminded how incredible our jobs are.
If you’re considering Dolly Sods for your elopement, let me tell you right now: it’s a yes from me.
What Makes dolly Sods So Special?
Dolly Sods is basically the crown jewel of West Virginia in our opinion. It’s vast, it’s scenic and somehow still feels like we’re in a different country. It’s not for the faint of heart however- a 45 minute drive down a long gravel road will have you thinking you’re lost. The weather is wild up there and you really never know what you’re going to get- which is exactly why we love it.

My favorite moments
Sunset of my dreams
You never know if you’re going to get moody and foggy or sunny and scenic at Dolly Sods. I like to think that Mother Nature chooses for us (quite literally lol.)
As a West Virginia elopement photographer, I’ve photographed nearly all over the state. And Dolly Sods is hands down my favorite location for an elopement. It’s accessible, it’s calm, and it’s just rural enough that you really have to be prepared, which is where I come in. Logistics are sorta my thing.
What I particularly loved about this elopement is that the couple’s family prepared a charcuterie board table with dessert and wine for a lil celebration after the ceremony. Have a scroll through my highlights below and grab some inspiration for your own elopement!
