An intimate elopement at Dolly Sods, West Virginia in October

Eloping in Dolly Sods is not for the faint of heart. With the most unpredictable weather patterns in West Virginia, most of our couples take a gamble when they choose Dolly Sods for their elopement location. October brings a variety of challenges including an influx of tourists to the area, thunderstorms, high winds, and low temperatures. Although every single time we’ve shot an elopement at Dolly Sods, the weather has been perfect. With the exception of a few super intense foggy days (although it made the dreamiest photos), we have seriously been lucky with the weather up on this fickle mountain. Jeahna and Isaias’ special day in October was no different. Mild temperatures, moody skies, and having the place practically to ourselves (because they eloped on a Wednesday!) made for the most special day.

After saying their vows on a plateau overlooking the valley below, J+I frolicked in the last remaining fields of blueberry bushes, popping champagne to celebrate along the way. We ended our evening together with a small fireside reception, complete with a pizza, a charcuterie board, and a pie to ease the sweet tooth. This day was perfect in every way.
